Itinerary
Day 1: Boarding in Esna – Explore the Temple of Khnum
Your Nile adventure begins in Esna, around 33 miles south of Luxor City. Once you arrive, step aboard the Agatha Dahabiya and meet the crew who will welcome you on board. Before sailing, head out with your guide for a walk through Esna’s lively streets, where local markets and handwoven textiles bring the town to life.
Continue to the remarkable Temple of Khnum, tucked about 9 meters below today’s street level. Take time to admire its impressive columns and detailed carvings before returning to the dahabiya to settle in and enjoy the start of your cruise.

Day 2: El Kab & Edfu – Ancient Capitals and Temples
After a restful morning on the river, arrive at El Kab, known historically as the capital of Upper Egypt. Disembark and enjoy a pleasant walk through a local fishermen’s village on your way to the Temple of Nekhbet, then explore the tombs carved into the nearby cliffs.
Later, continue sailing toward Edfu. In town, ride by horse-drawn carriage to reach the magnificent Edfu Temple, celebrated as one of the best-preserved temples in Egypt and a standout example from the Greco-Roman era. After the visit, return to the Agatha Dahabiya and sail onward to a quiet Nile island, where the evening feels peaceful and unspoiled.

Day 3: Nile Sailing, Swimming, and Ancient Inscriptions
Today focuses on the simple beauty of The Nile River itself. Enjoy breakfast on deck while the Agatha Dahabiya glides smoothly downstream, with riverbank scenes unfolding at a gentle pace.
In the afternoon, stop by a secluded island, giving you the chance to swim in the Nile or take an easy walk along the shore. Near sunset, you may choose an optional hike into a desert valley where prehistoric stone inscriptions and pharaonic hieroglyphs line the route—an ancient passage that once linked Egypt with Libya.
By evening, the boat moors beneath the illuminated walls of Gebel el-Silsileh, creating an unforgettable atmosphere at this lesser-visited site.

Day 4: Gebel el-Silsileh – Sandstone Quarries and Sacred Sites
Wake up as the Nile narrows dramatically between desert cliffs. Early in the morning, set out to explore Gebel el-Silsileh, a special stop where large cruise ships cannot dock, making the visit feel more exclusive and uncrowded.
Walk through the sandstone quarries that provided stone for many of Egypt’s great monuments, and visit the Temple of Horemheb. After returning for a relaxed lunch on board, continue sailing to a scenic stretch of riverbank where you can unwind, swim, or simply enjoy the changing views from the deck.

Day 5: Kom Ombo – Temple of Sobek and the Crocodile Museum
Sail onward to Kom Ombo, where a striking twin Kom Ombo Temple stands on a bend of the Nile. During your guided tour, discover what makes this Ptolemaic temple distinctive: it is dedicated to two deities, Sobek the crocodile god and Haroeris the falcon-headed god.
After exploring the temple, visit the nearby Crocodile Museum, home to dozens of mummified crocodiles from the ancient sacred waters of the region. Return to the Agatha Dahabiya for a final calm night on board beneath the stars.

Day 6: Arrival in Aswan – Farewell to the Nile
On your last morning, take in the desert scenery surrounding Aswan City as you enjoy breakfast while approaching Aswan Bridge. Soon after, your Agatha Dahabiya journey comes to a close. Disembark and transfer to your hotel or your next connection as arranged.
